In September 2020 we assisted with the movement of a 128.5-tonne electricity transformer from an 80m barge onto the beach near Porthmadog, Gywnedd.
CBS provided transfer for the crew of the Terra Marique barge, 2nm from the beach at Black Rock Sands. At 0.75nm from the beach, our mini-tug was secured to the barge’s port aft to control their direction as they entered the beach stern first.
After the removal of the National Grid transformer, we assisted with the Terra Marique’s departure from the beach and transferred 5 members of crew from the barge back to Porthmadog. The transformer was then transported by road to Trawsfynydd Substation.
